Rental Terms
All car rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Teesside, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need a valid full driving licence for the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification, proof of your current address, and payment details, including a security deposit, are required. Additional criteria may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Teesside office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same level of fuel as at the start of the rental; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Late returns could result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during the rental, along with an administrative fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. There may be additional insurance options available to lower your financial liability. Please review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you opt for extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will also be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any high-risk activities. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. The vehicle must not be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Additionally, the vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, and you must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is also not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
As permitted under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Teesside will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraud.
Teesside Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
